Montreal, November 2024
Gray, in partnership with four cancer centers in Quebec (CHUM, Cité de la Santé in Laval, the Jewish General Hospital, and the CIUSSS de l’Est), is proud to announce that the deployment of GrayOS has won the prestigious 2024 Oncology Award, presented by the Programme Québécois de Cancérologie (PQC).
This award, granted during the PQC’s annual conference, highlights the major impact of GrayOS, an innovative technology leveraging data science to optimize cancer care scheduling, on access to care and hospital performance.
Recognition of GrayOS’s Tangible Impact
The initiative, titled “Optimization of Outpatient Systemic Therapy Scheduling Using GrayOS Across Four Quebec Cancer Centers,” illustrates the transformative power of the technology. Following an initial co-development with CHUM, GrayOS was successfully implemented in three additional cancer centers in Quebec: Cité de la Santé in Laval, the Jewish General Hospital, and Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital. With nearly three years of clinical data, the measured results speak volumes:
80% reduction in administrative burden for clinical teams, freeing up more time for patient care.
13% efficiency gain, enabling departments to deliver more treatments without increasing resources, thereby improving access to care for the Quebec population.
Improved staff satisfaction, thanks to streamlined processes and optimized schedules that better balance workloads.
Enhanced collaboration between departments (radiation oncology, pharmacy, laboratory, and clinical teams) for smoother, more coordinated care pathways.
Automation of reporting and data-driven decision-making, enabling faster and more informed operational decisions through real-time dashboards.
This 2024 Oncology Award underscores the significant impact of this project on the quality of cancer care. It also highlights the strength of partnerships between healthcare providers and innovative technological solutions like GrayOS to address the complex challenges of cancer care.
"I would like to personally thank each member of the partner centers' teams as well as the PQC for their recognition and commitment to the continuous improvement of cancer care,"
said André Diamant, Gray's CEO
“I am especially grateful to those at the CHUM who trusted us in the early stages and enabled the co-development of a solution that now benefits tens of thousands of patients across North America.”
A Quebec-Born Technology Making an Impact Beyond Borders
While GrayOS originated in Quebec, its relevance and impact extend far beyond the province. The solution has been deployed in leading institutions in Ontario, such as the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, the Ottawa Hospital, and the Southlake Regional Health Centre, as well as in the United States at the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
By working hand in hand with clinical teams committed to the continuous improvement of cancer care, GrayOS continues to expand its reach across North America. Its mission remains unchanged: Empowering cancer centers to overcome the complexity of cancer care operations so that each patient receives the best possible care with the highest efficiency.
